FTC Settles Deceptive Advertising Claims Against Amniotic Stem Cell Clinic

The Centeno-Schultz Clinic is committed to providing the highest level of PRP and stem cell treatments to patients with common orthopedic conditions. We use bone marrow-derived stem cells along with varying concentrations of PRP and maintain a university-level laboratory. Amniotic stem cells have gained increasing attention and are widely touted in online and newspaper ads, but, unfortunately, as we discussed yesterday, amniotic stem cell products do not contain any live stem cells.

Today, we are reviewing a deceptive advertising claim against an amniotic stem cell clinic settled by the FTC. First, let’s review more information on these amniotic products.

FTC Settles Deceptive Advertising on Amniotic Stem Cell Claims

Last week, the Federal Trade Commission settled deceptive adverting charges against a California physician and his two companies based on their “amniotic stem cell therapy” claims. The companies claimed the ability to treat serious medical conditions, including Parkinson’s disease, autism, cerebral palsy, osteoarthritis, multiple sclerosis, strokes, and cardiovascular disease. On their websites, the clinics boasted that amniotic stem cell therapy could restore the vision of blind patients, one of those being a 101-year-old who had been blind for seven years. A $3.31 million judgment was imposed.

Do your homework. If the clinic you are considering offers amniotic stem cell treatment for multiple serious medical conditions, including osteoarthritis, save both your time and hard-earned money. It will not work.
