Centeno-Schultz Clinic is committed to supporting the community. Last weekend we proudly supported Lifting the Limits for PKU held at the Denver Center for Performing Arts.
Phenylketonuria (PKU) is a rare inherited disorder that causes an amino acid called phenylalanine to build up in the body. PKU is caused by a defect in the gene that helps create the enzyme needed to break down phenylalanine. Untreated PKU can lead to intellectual disability, seizures, behavioral problems, and mental disorders.Treatments options are limited to diets low in phenylalanine.
The Centeno-Schultz Clinic is grateful for the opportunity to sponsor such an event and wishes the very best to the researchers, parents, and children affected by this disorder. In attendance (in the picture above) was chief administrative officer Eric Speers and Drs. Ugochi Azuike, and John Schultz.
